HOW DO I INSTALL MY WATCH BAND(S)?

DIY Install: If you prefer do-it-yourself installation, please view our helpful Watch Band Installation Guide for our expert tips and guidance on how to properly install leather, nylon or rubber straps and various types of metal bands.

Professional Install: If you want someone else to install your band(s), you can take your watch and band(s) to your local jeweler or jewelry repair store and they should be able to properly install the band(s).

Adjustments:Most metal watch bands can also be adjusted for length in either the band links, clasp or both. Check out our Watch Band Adjustment Guide for tips and guidance on how to adjust various types of metal bands. If you don’t feel comfortable adjusting the band yourself or if any pieces seem stuck or break in the process, we recommend taking your watch and band(s) that need adjusting to your local jeweler or jewelry repair store to have it professionally fitted. Removing links and band adjustments are generally an inexpensive service, usually costing less than $20.

IS MY WATCH BAND WATERPROOF?

Check the product page for that particular item. Under the “Details” tab, it will say if that particular band is waterproof. Many of our leather and fabric watch bands are water resistant. Only a limited few are actually waterproof

Water resistant means that the band will resist a little bit of water splashed on it and normal sweating, however, it should not be completely submerged in water (i.e. swimming, showering) as it could damage the integrity of the band or cause mold growth. Waterproof bands can be fully submerged in water.

Most metal and silicone bands are waterproof and we carry some waterproof leather strap options as well. Check our our selection of Men’s Waterproof Leather Straps here.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY WATCH BAND(S)?

- Use a jewelry cleaning and polishing cloth regularly to effectively clean metal bands and to clean the buckles on leather, extoic and nylon straps.Avoid wearing your watch when using abrasive cleaning products or chemicals.

- Apply beauty products such as perfume, hairspray or deodorant before putting on your watch as certain chemicals contained in these products may damage the finish of the watch and watch band.

- For Non-Waterproof Watch Bands:always remove before swimming, bathing, doing household chores, etc.

General Questions

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHORT, REGULAR, LONG & EXTRA-LONG WATCH BAND SIZES?

This refers to the length of the watch band (not including the buckle or actual watch head). Please check our handy Watch Band Measuring Guide for more information on how to determine the correct size and length for you.

Note: Not all watch straps and bands are manufactured in every length. Most metal watch bands are adjustable with removable links or with clasp adjustments, so start with the size closest to your size or larger and you can adjust the band from there.

Watch Band Measuring Quick Guide

How To Find Your Watch Band Size

Watch band or watch strap size is determined by the width of the band end that attaches to the watch. If you already have a leather band for the watch in question, you can check the back to see if it has a size imprint, shown in millimeters. Otherwise, you will need to find the lug width (distance between the inside of the lugs on the watch head). You can easily measure it yourself in one of the below three ways.

Rounding: Rule of thumb for a replacement watch band is that it’s better for the watch band to be tight rather then loose. If you need to round your measurement, rounding up is usually your best bet. A leather, rubber or nylon watch strap can be slightly flexible to fit.

How To Find Your Watch Band Length

LEATHER, NYLON, RUBBER OR METAL

Method 1: Measure An Existing Strap that fits your watch with a ruler to determine the length. When measuring, only measure the material parts of the strap, do not include the buckle.

Method 2: Finding Length From Scratch
1) Find yourwrist size by wrapping a tape measure or a piece of string around your wrist. Mark where the two ends meet then lay the thread out flat on a ruler and measure the distance. Find your watch head size by using a ruler or check the manufacturer for information.

2) Minus yourwatch head measurement from your wrist size measurement. This will give you the total watch band length needed.Important Note: Not all watch bands are manufactured in every length, and most metal watch bands are adjustable, so choose the size closest to your size or go longer.
